Sometimes I like to take larger bottles with me, especially if they are nearing empty as it will mean that it forces me to pack less and then I can bring more things back and not have to worry as much about crossing weight restrictions on the way back.
If you have a specific product you want but don't want to carry a large bottle for a short trip you can find small bottles for carrying stuff like that at a Walmart, Target or equivalent. Some brands also sell travel sizes, but they can be expensive.
